"Aw, shit…"

Two simple words summed up the entirety of the situation in a clean, precise manner. There was a small light on one of the consoles in the dark room, and in perfect measured time, it lit up a bright, colorful red that faded quickly, but stayed burned into the eyes until it flashed again. Despite the urgent nature of the light, however, there were no sounds of alarm or notices that flashed across the room. Partially, this was because there was no need. As soon as the problem had been found, it had been noted.

Leaving the boys to their own devices, the dragon padded toward the gigantic blades of the fan. There, slightly dented by the impact of her body, was the blade that she had landed on earlier. For no real reason, the dragon chose that one to climb on, passing her tongue reflectively over her teeth as she stared down at the metal grating below. Much thinner than that of the boiler rooms she had passed through before, it was uncertain if the grating would hold her weight. Far below, she could only glimpse darkness and the occasional distant blue glow that indicated more of those deadly lightening bolts.

Her spines relaxed, having inched upward in the time it took for Elias to approach. Perhaps he hadn't intended her to hear his words; that much was likely. But nonetheless, they eased long-standing, hidden fears that had always plagued her. Before, his words had spoken of her as a monster; something to be fought and destroyed like so many religions and people rallied for. Dragons were the enemy, a sign of evil, and humans and they could not coexist.
